About the role
As a Senior R&D Engineer in Physical Attack Analysis, you will serve as a key expert on smartcard physical attacks, including laser fault injection and side‑channel attacks.
The IN Groupe Embedded R&D department is in close contact with the Business Product Lines on the one hand and with Evaluation / Certification laboratories and Bodies on the other. The department consists of specialists in the field of State-of-the-Art Secure Embedded Software development.
Main responsibilities
Assess the security of our products against high security standards
Familiar with electronic measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analysers, etc., and ensure their proper functioning and maintenance
As part of the security team, you actively propose security improvements to align algorithm security levels with product requirements
Apply a methodology that allows testing, archiving, documenting, and replaying attacks to ensure full reproducibility of all tests
Conduct technology watch activities and may contribute to patents for innovative solutions and publish in scientific conferences
Actively propose improvements to continuously enhance the R&D lab and keep it at the cutting edge of technology
Support teams in developing their expertise
Assist multiple projects in implementing security requirements
About you
Education: Master’s degree (Bac+5) or equivalent in Mathematics, Cryptography, Computer Science, or Embedded Electronics (PhD is a plus).
Experience: Proven experience in hardware security, physical attacks, or related fields.
Language: Proficiency in English.
Technical competencies:
· Hardware Security Expertise
· Strong programming skills in both high-level (Python) and low-level languages (C/C++, Assembly)
Personal skills: Strong teamwork abilities, autonomy, effective interpersonal communication. Strong rigor and ability to act as a technical reference.
Physical attacks (fault injection: laser, EM, voltage glitching)
Side-channel analysis (power, EM, timing)
Excellent analytical and synthesis skills, high responsiveness.
Knowledge of symmetric and asymmetric cryptography and their implementation
Experience with smart cards or similar technologies (e.g., Hardware Security Modules – HSM)
Familiarity with offensive AI techniques
